The Blizzard of 2016 may not be a scheduled event, but it is clear to all that it is a moment in Cairn’s history.

Arguably, this snow day should have been a school day so that we would have had off, but I will not complain too much.

It seems that all of the snow that we have been anticipating since last semester came Saturday. ALL of the snow came actually. As a commuter, I spent my weekend locked up in my house doing homework, laundry, and drinking my weight in hot chocolate.

I also spent a good amount of time on social media as I watched the rest of the Cairn Community have fun on their snow day.

There are students who have only seen snow a couple of times in their lives, and there are also students who laugh at anyone who is scared of this “blizzard,” because they are originally from New England. Some of us stayed outside all day, while others took the time to catch up on homework.

I think it is wonderful to see that, despite our differences, this snow brought a lot of us together.

I received more than one email this weekend from Prof. Palladino about his famous sledding events. I was laughing as I read that he had already scoped out the hill TWICE Saturday afternoon to see if it was sled ready. I love that we have staff members like him who truly enjoy spending time with his students.

I also find the impromptu church service in the Great Hall in Heritage Sunday morning to be especially sweet. Even though all of our regular church’s cancelled meetings this morning, the Cairn students were able to come together and worship. Even President Williams braved the cold to speak, and it had an incredible turnout, both in student involvement and the message.

This weekend has been a wonderful one for everyone, and I think it will always be remembered.
