Burning Cold

A warming touch, a cold-turned back,
A loving heart, a cruel attack;
A constant shift
An ebbing gift
Of fire and ice that calls my heart

They come and go, like a spring breeze:
Love-filled glances given with ease
His capturing smile,
That turned so vile
To fire and ice that calls my heart.

A burning care, a passion strong,
A cold embrace, a kiss so wrong.
A breath so deep,
That cannot sleep
On fire and ice that calls my heart.

The pain cuts through my up-turned eyes.
My empty sighs echo silent cries
I will not give,
I cannot live
With fire and ice that calls my heart.

I kick and scream, leave tears behind,
Fight for freedom to cleanse my mind,
Renew my guard
To disregard
That fire and ice that calls my heart.
