Financial Planning for Students – On February 18, thirty-two students had the opportunity to receive financial advice from Lee Giobbie, a Financial Adviser with Janney Montgomery-Scott.  He explained common mistakes people make with their finances and ways to improve spending. He emphasized the association between what we earn and what belongs to God, which, of course, is everything.  He noted a saying that has stuck with him since he first heard it: “Too many people spend money they haven’t earned for things they don’t need, to buy things to impress people they don’t like.”  Although this seems quite humorous at first, on reflection, many realize it is true. We must understand God owns it all – “The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” -NIV Psalm 24:1.
