Another hardship, more suffering,
But the grass is greener on the other side.
“Weeping may endure for the night,
But joy cometh in the morning.”

Such Scripture sounds fake when
The soul is engulfed in self-focused sickness.
The blind hope for escape,
But they cripple themselves and are enslaved to the painful process.

Perhaps the process proves more than pure pain.
God only knows the good you could gain
If you lift up your head and look around
And give your circumstances to He who was crowned
For your sufferings. He endured.
There’s a way to be cured
Today and live for Him
Amidst the process of pain.

Another promotion, more hoarding,
Which wields a wandering wretch
Wallowing in wealth
This is the best of life as we know it.

Yet this too proves to blind the victim
Whose wayward luxuries allure the man
To the seductive whore named “Pleasure.”
Vain is the end result of such pursuits.

“I came that they may have life
And have it abundantly.”
Perhaps pain is not the end in and of itself.
Perhaps vain pleasure cannot satisfy.
And still, perhaps there is more to each moment.
Whether placed in ill or fortunate contexts
Monotony is pierced, and the pursuits of life pale
As the Savior unveils his purpose.
