The Highlander Café was an appropriate place to sit down and interview The Scrolls latest Highlander Spotlight student. Eric Jacobs: sophomore, Pastoral Ministries major, basketball player, and dedicated student. I had the opportunity to interview him on Friday afternoon, and get to know this Highlander a little bit more.

Hailing from the town of Dillsburg, in central PA, Eric Jacobs can most likely be found in the classroom, on the basketball court, or with his friends. As a Pastoral Ministries major, Eric has attended his fair share of Bible classes; among his favorites is Biblical Hermeneutics. When asked why this class ranked as a favorite, Eric answered, Its amazing to see how many different ways scripture can be interpreted, and how important it is to interpret it correctly.Regarding favorite professors, however, Eric considers Professor Palladinoa fan favorite among many Cairn studentsas one of his own favorites. He brings a lot of energy to the class, making the class more interesting and fun.

Eric also enjoys playing basketball for Cairns Mens team. Basketball has been a part of Erics life for several years, the sophomore claimed: I stated playing in the 4th grade, and got into it after playing a few years of baseball. I wanted to try other sports.

For Eric, however, his love for Cairn basketball goes beyond the mere sport. Theyre my second family,he stated about his team. Its a ton of fun to play for Cairn, and I enjoy getting to see and experience a lot of other schools. From strictly a basketball standpoint, I think Cairn teaches me that basketball is a fun sport in general, but its especially fun when you play with people who know the game well.

Although both the basketball court and classroom have taught Eric his fair share of lessons, he confessed to the work God was doing in his life outside of academics and sports. As only a sophomore, Eric shared the trying and testing of his faith that has occurred so far in his college years. I think God has really tested me in trusting Him and His plan when Im doubting. I feel that testing sometimes with my major, and then wonder if this is where God wants me, or if he wants me somewhere else. Ive found more confidence and peace in my studies and in His plan.

Erics goals for this semester run parallel to the lessons God is teaching Him about faith, and include a specific focus on building new relationships: I want to continue to grow in my walk and knowledge of God. And continue to get to know more people and build relationships with them. Ive been doing that a lot lately, and want to continue that.
