Garden Party Triumph

I am a girl who loves twinkle lights, especially when they are laced through tree branches.

So it is safe to say that I absolutely adored everything about the Garden Party this year.

I will take any opportunity that I can to dress up, so this semi-formal event on the President’s lawn last night was right up my alley.

distanceThis event has truly been a long time coming. After a long break of a garden party even on the calendar, Student Life decided last year to bring back this soiree type of atmosphere. Unfortunately, last year’s bad weather during Homecoming weekend left the garden party to be held inside the chapel (which kind of kills the garden party mood). But after another year of waiting, God gave us the most gorgeous weather to spend the evening outside.

I think “adorable” was the world that kept popping into my head all night long. The candle lit walkway was adorable, the swing dance floor underneath the big oak tree was adorable, the Curry kids playing corn hole was adorable, the smiles on the William’s faces all night were adorable.

I also equally felt adorable, mostly because I had a place to wear a pearl necklace without being overdressed.

I believe the night was exactly as long as it needed to be, without being too long or not enough time. It was nice to have a more adult type of party on campus that allowed for mingling and chatting. There are events on campus such as Castle Crashers, which are very structured in nature where you always know what you are supposed to do at any given time. The nice thing about the Garden Party, though, was that you did not have to be anywhere at any point in time. You could spend the entire night talking with one person at a table, or you could hop around all night to make sure that you took pictures with everyone (my personal tactic). It was a night where you could come and go as you pleased, but once you were there you felt no desire to leave either.

After my first Garden Party experience last night, I am 100% endorsing this event for the years to come.
