Strengthening Student Résumés – Now Live!
The School of Business and the Masland Library Publish the First Student-Written, Instructor Facilitated (SWIF) Business Case
Well written, thought provoking business case studies are highly effective teaching platforms that challenge serious students in an active learning environment. Frequently, top-tier textbooks incorporate business cases to facilitate their intended learning outcomes. Business cases from schools such as Harvard and Michigan Universities are standard tools found throughout the curricula of business schools. Cairn University School of Business is no different, but now we have a new source for these teaching tools. We are delighted to announce the Masland Library has established a repository for exceptional business cases prepared by Cairn students, which can be viewed here: http://encore.cairn.edu/iii/cpro/CommunityViewPage.external?lang=eng&sp=1000001&suite=def. The first case selected for publishing – “Huawei: can China’s telecom giant continue to grow without the U.S.?” – was researched and written by a team of MBA candidates including Oscar Avila, Brian Consoli, Isabel Ou, and David Steininger. It will also be used as part of an undergraduate course beginning in the upcoming semester. Publishing provides a noteworthy addition to student authors’ résumés – they are sure to catch the eye of potential employers. This case is planned to be the first of many; an exciting step forward for all involved!
