A Blessing for the Cairn Social Workers

In the book of Romans, it says “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.  Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer ( Romans 12:9-12).

We as social workers are called to show love, seek justice, and help others before ourselves, and as followers of Christ, we are called to the same ideas. We are called to love others as Christ loved us, to show them dignity, respect, and honor as Christ did for us.

As well as those values, we are to lean on each other, to ask one another for help when we are falling, when we are feeling tired and weary, and to show each other that same love we show our clients.

As a new generation of social workers goes out into the world, another generation is being taught these values. While this is the last generation of social workers here at Cairn, I hope you continue this journey you are on and make a difference in the lives of each other and the people you will soon help.

While there will be times when you will struggle and feel as though there is no end in sight, know that this is the path that God has chosen for you. He has planted the seeds of compassion and love within you and wants to see you grow.

Remember you are not alone in this journey and that He will be with you every step of the way. You are making a significant difference no matter where you go and who you serve. This difference is all for the glory of God. We are cheering and rooting for you all.

Sincerely,

Your fellow social work students
