Do you love poetry? Are you passionate about sharing your work with people? Are you willing to try something that you haven’t before? Does listening to poetry bring you joy? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you should highly consider making an appearance at the Mahlon and Miriam Souder Poetry Slam. This event will take place on February 17 at 9pm in the ADR. There will be poetry readings, live jazz, and hot drinks, but if you want to partake in the hot drinks, it is essential that you bring your own mug.

Despite the fact that Souder is no longer a guys dormitory, the spirit of Souder still lives on. Last year’s poetry slam was a hit that included a sonnet on refrigerators and a dramatic reading of the Applebee’s menu, and this year’s slam should live up to the hype. The first half of the event is a time for people to genuinely share their serious poetry, and the latter part will be open to funny poems, finishing with whatever nonsense that your heart desires. Everyone is encouraged to share an original or favorite poem, and even if you don’t have poetry to share, you are welcome to participate by listening intentionally.

Once again, the poetry slam is on February 17 at 9pm in the ADR. If you have questions, please reach out to Jeffrey Endres (je039@cairn.edu). Come on out for a time of sharing and fun!
