In Opera Theater’s For All the Saints?, students performed a variety of skits from several different musicals. These performances used very few props, making them remarkable and allowing the audience to stay focused on the acting. Opera Theater intends to grow students’ acting abilities by removing the crutch that props provide. Students performed excerpts from Fiddler on the Roof, Cinderella, Les Misérables, and more, in both English and Italian. These were stories of love, hope, and incredible humor. Several students breathed new life into the performances of songs which were at risk for becoming overdone. The audience had chills listening to the incredible voices. This was a unique opportunity to see the talent of average students on campus, and they did not disappoint.

This performance was scheduled on All Saint’s Day and is a reflection on the state of the saints. The director noted, “We have become the chosen saints of God, and God has chosen to use His saints for His glory, even though we’re a pretty shabby bunch of saints!” This selection of skits was meant to examine the struggles and conflicts anyone may have, whether against themselves or another person.

Look out for future musical performances. In the Spring, the Opera Theatre will preform Little Women. Look for posters or Check the website for more details!
