Please read through the article for a surprise!!!

October 6, 2022, the Student Government Association held its first “Coffee with the Cabinet,” which has no relation to “Coffee with the President,” unless you count SGA President Kolby Bills of course.

The flyers stated that the event started at 7:00 p.m., but, as you can imagine, the event “started” at 6:45 as we had to set up. Chef Peter, from Pioneer, did an incredible job providing the coffee, tea, and cookies, but also did a great job in making sure it was laid out properly. (Chef Peter is very much appreciated for significantly helping SGA.)

With the coffee, tea, and cookies in place, all that was needed were the constituents…in terms that non-politics majors can understand, we needed some students; with no students, it would have just been a “Well-Catered, Student Government Association Meeting,” which we do not have while nice, would have missed the point of the gathering.

Students came, and students went. There was talk about turtles. Actually, most of the “official” questions stemmed from this topic about the turtles, stated in jest. It wasn’t really about Big Student Government Plans, it ended up being a great night of laughs, cookies, and community. Beyond all this turtle talk, good conversation was had by all.

Ultimately, this “Coffee with the Cabinet” was a great event (and I don’t say that because I am a member of the cabinet and hope to keep my position!); it genuinely was great speaking with all of you who came out. We hope to continue to adapt this program in the future to allow for more students to take part in events like these.  We are still learning what works, and what doesn’t work. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to SGA, via Instagram or email. We are here to help.

The surprise!!!??? Well, the surprise is that you actually finished reading this article. Well done, and thank you!
