Jesus, you felt it

The jeering,

The “what if”s

Disciple or Pharisee,

Friend or foe, didn’t

Matter see

‘Cause all day, non-quitting:

WhyWhatHowWho’sHe

Yet you stood

By what you said

Dauntless, because you could

Feel in your bones what we’ve only read:

Every step, in His authority

Every word, from the Mouth of Elohim

Every look, from the Eyes of Glory

Perfect and blameless–

Lord, I am so far from that dependence.

Far from you and the trust it takes to walk in freedom.

I am so tired of trying to make sense

Of synapses firing, voices whispering, is it for the kingdom

Save me from myself, I seek the truth

Analyze all Past Selves as living proof

Of your healing, of those past dealings—

They haunt us but you are stronger still

May my hands, like pottery,

Smooth everything that tears me up inside

May within, the soul hear Spirit’s warcry

And live captured in the moment when you cried—

IT IS FINISHED!

IT IS FINISHED!

(It was never my place to save myself and the human race.

It’s always been you and your grace.)

Lord, you are the roaring lion

And Lord, you are the lamb

Help me rely on

You

It’s you who defines who I am.

Theou—of You—But that’s not the end

Lord, you’re transforming more around us than I could ever comprehend

Or relate

Lord, you never relegate

Your children

Your hope is in the way

They look

And, turning, incredulously say,

“What’s all it took?”

Your truth is deeper than my sympathy

(or lack of it.)

Jesus, they make an attack of it!

But You are Peace, Shalom, Complete

Lord, how could anything compete?

GOD, YOU BEGAN THE BEAT!

At your table, I eat more than leavings

And if I run, you’ll catch me wheezing,

But if I’m freezing,

Scared of the Past Repeating, I

Can rely on the one who’s really leading

And the gifts that he’s been

Giving

Because Lord, this is what you give your children:

Truth to believe in

Life because you’ve risen

Show us freedom from our sin

That Heaven may be in

Us

Praise be to our love, Jesus!
