For the next round of my Community Corner roundtable, we head over to Newtown, PA, for the next stop in our trip to find the hottest spots around Cairn University.
Enter Tyler State Park, the nearest state park to the Cairn University campus exhibits beauty and nature like no other park in the area. Open everyday from dawn until dusk, Tyler State Park provides the perfect leisure sight for Cairn students to get away from the everyday drama of being a college student.
Like fishing? Perfect, Tyler State has docks for you to fish off of. Want a quiet place to do your homework, Tyler State has over 1,711 acres of land so you will be sure to find a quiet place to do your homework around natures finest.
Need a place to take your girlfriend after an argument? The soothing atmosphere surrounding Tyler State is perfect to calm the waters and keep your girlfriend happy.
To make matters even better, Tyler State Park has over 10.5 miles of biking trails for both the edgy off-road bikers, and paths where families can go on a cruise during a cool afternoon.
One of the more unique aspects of Tyler State Park is “Disc Golf.” If you have never heard of it, it is basically regular golf except you use a frisbee instead of a golf ball, trying to get the frisbee into the basket in the least amount of throws. Tyler State Park boasts their own 36-hole course, which is equally as challenging for experts and it is for novices. I myself have played this course before, and my girlfriend beat me, so athletic ability is not a requirement in order to enjoy the Disc Golf at Tyler State Park.
During the winter, Tyler State even allows for patrons to ice skate on the Neshaminy Creek when it freezes over. Whether you can garner enough people for a hockey game, or just want to skate around the creek, Tyler State Park is one of the few places where you can go ice skating for free.
Take a trip down the road and visit Tyler State Park today, whether it be alone or with a large group of friends, there is plenty to do at the nearest State Park to campus, whether that be ice skating, fishing, disc golf, or even having a small picnic with a group of friends, Tyler State Park provides an opportunity to take a break from the daily stresses of being a college student.
